USMEPCOM Support for Other Federal Agencies

DoDD 1145.2E 5.3.9, authorizes USMEPCOM to "provide medical and aptitude testing support to other Federal Agencies." USMEPCOM does provide aptitude and medical testing to certain officer candidates, National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), State Department, Peace Corps, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Testing provided:

Physical Screening Examinations:

  • Full Physical Exam
  • Vision Test: Uncorrected/corrected distant and near
  •  - Color Vision
  •  - Depth perception
  •  - Phoria eye testing
  •  - Intraocular Pressure and Auto Refraction (if required)
  • Audiogram
  • Vital signs
  • Audiogram
  • Vital signs
  • Valsalva
  • Reading aloud test
  • Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) (if clinically indicated)
  • Height/Weight/BMI calculation
  • Orthopedic Neurologic exam
  • Breath Alcohol Test
  • Urine , Protein, Glucose, Pregnancy (HCG)
  • Consults, Studies, Special Tests, Labs as Clinically Indicated, Required by Regulation, or Requested By Recruit Service Medical Waiver Authority (SMWRA) including
  • HIV Antibody testing
  • Body Fat

Consults - local labs when requested by physician during Basic exam:

  • Urinalysis, Complete Microscopic, Urine Spot Protein, Creatinine Ratio
  • Blood test: G6PD, Hemoglobin or hematocrit; IGRA test for TB (quantiferon)
  • Dental exam
  • PAP smear and pelvic examination
  • Screening mammography
  • Spirometry/pulmonary function test
  • Chest x-ray
  • Visual fields

Aptitude testing:

  • Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT)
  • Aptitude tests (automated or manual)
