Minority College Relations Program

USMEPCOM activities participate in the Department of Defense Minority College Relations Program. This initiative is designed to enhance employment and liaison efforts between the Army and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), and other colleges and universities collectively referred to as Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). MSIs are colleges and universities where the minority population is 50% or more of the total enrollment population.

Partnerships and collaborations with minority colleges and institutions of higher education result in mutually beneficial success in opportunities of employment, contracting, resource exchange, and minority college relations.

Additionally, USMEPCOM activities are encouraged to develop relationships with local elementary and high schools, which have a high or predominant minority population. These relations include but are limited to mentor programs, tutorial assistance, equipment donations, and summer hire programs.

Through such efforts the Department of Defense will assist in maintaining a solid foundation to continue opportunities for minorities. This program can lead to a source of highly skilled professionals to perform a variety of functions within the Department of Defense.
