HQ USMEPCOM, 01.08.2020 –
United States Military Entrance Processing Command has received the Joint Meritorious Unit Award for the period April 2016 to May 2019
The award was presented Dec. 6 by Stephanie Miller, director of military accession policy, on behalf of Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper.
The JMUA was presented to USMEPCOM, in part, for enlisting nearly 700,000 recruits into the armed forces during the award period as it underwent its most significant transformation in decades. The command was also cited for making significant progress in its efforts to achieve all-digital accessions.
This is the command’s third JMUA. It previously received it for the periods July 1982 to April 1985 and January 2005 to December 2007.
The JMUA was established by the Secretary of Defense in June 1981 and is presented to joint activities for meritorious achievement or service superior to that which is normally expected.
Marine Corps Col. Richard T. Brady, USMEPCOM commander, and Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Michael A. Page, Eastern Sector senior enlisted advisor, attach the streamer for the Joint Meritorious Unit Award as Army Staff Sgt. Alejandro Torres and Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Edgar Jimenez hold the unit flag.
