Job Overview

As a human resources assistant, or HRA, you are the face of the MEPS for applicants and their families. HRAs ensure applicants have a good experience and get the unique opportunity to hear each applicant’s story of why they want to join the military. 

HRAs are responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to greeting and checking applicants into the MEPS, processing applicants including reviewing contracts and conducting fingerprinting, conducting pre-oath briefings, reviewing prescreens and uploading into the Electronic Health Record, MHS GENESIS.

Pay grade starting at:

GS-05 or GS-06

Other requirements unique to this position, if applicable:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Maintaining applicant records by updating account information; Obtaining data from applicants for completion of personnel records; Capturing applicant's fingerprints for pre-employment background checks; and Utilizing office automation software programs to accomplish tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Conditions of Employment

- Requires the skills of a qualified typist and ability to utilize web-based software systems.
- Employee may be required to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work (work before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
- Employee will routinely be required to work unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements.
- Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
