First Sergeant Gerald L. Brantley is the senior enlisted advisor of the Tampa Military Entrance Processing Station.
First Sergeant Brantley enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1986. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky., and Advance Individual Training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind., as a personnel administrative specialist. His first duty assignment was to Fort Jackson, S.C., where he served as a personnel administrative clerk with the 277th Quartermaster Battalion. He left the Active Army in 1989 and joined the Army Reserves, where he served almost six years until returning to active duty in 1995. He was then assigned to Fort Hood, Texas, where he served as a promotions clerk and personnel actions clerk with the 15th Military Intelligence Battalion. His next assignment was to Mannheim, Germany, where he served as a promotions clerk, noncommissioned officer evaluation report clerk and the personnel actions clerk with 414th Signal Company, Land Forces Central Europe. His next assignment was to Scott Air Force Base, Ill., where he served as a human resources joint personnel sergeant, with U.S. Transportation Command. First Sergeant Brantley's next assignment was Baumholder, Germany, where he served as the forward support noncommissioned officer in charge of the Baumholder Communication Information Systems Center. He was then assigned to Brunssum, Netherlands, where he served with Allied Forces North, as a platoon sergeant and assistant noncommissioned officer in charge of battalion human resources. He was then assigned to the Defense Prisoner of War and Missing Personnel Office at the Pentagon as the external affairs noncommissioned officer in charge. He was next assigned to Schwetzingen, Germany, where he served with 18th Engineer Brigade, as the noncommissioned officer in charge of human resources and deployed with the unit to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom serving as the forward brigade noncommissioned officer in charge of human resources. Prior to his current assignment he was assigned to Campbell Barracks, Heidelberg, Germany, where he served with U.S. Army Europe, as the noncommissioned officer in charge of the human resources enlisted personnel management division.
First Sergeant Brantlley's professional military education includes the Basic and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Courses, Warrior Leaders Course and Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officer Course. He also earned an Associate of Arts Degree in General Studies from the University of Phoenix, Ariz.
First Sergeant Brantley's military awards and decorations include two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, four Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medal, and various unit and service medals and ribbons.
