Senior Chief Petty Officer Donald J. Serratta, Jr. is the senior enlisted advisor for the Pittsburgh Military Entrance Processing Station.

Senior Chief Serratta enlisted in the United States Navy in May 1992. He completed Basic Training in Orlando, Fla., and then completed Cryptologic Technician Technical “A” School in Pensacola, Fla. In December 1992 he reported to his first duty assignment at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where he was assigned to Naval Security Group Activity. He earned qualification as Electronic Support Measures Senior Operator, qualified in submarines, and then deployed for 198 days on five United States Pacific Fleet subsurface combatants. In March 1996 he completed Naval Aircrewman Candidate School at Pensacola, and Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape School at North Island, Calif. He then assigned to Naval Security Group Barbers Point, Hawaii, where he deployed for 454 days in support of 5th, 6th and 7th Fleet operations, participating in Operations Southern Watch, Guardian Assistance, and Joint Guardian. He also earned Naval Aircrewman designation and qualification as Airborne Electronic Support Measures Supervisor. In April 2000 he returned to Naval Security Group Activity Pearl Harbor where he served as Direct Support Leading Petty Officer. He deployed 263 days onboard six United States Pacific Fleet subsurface combatants as Electronic Support Measures Supervisor. He also served as Electronic Order of Battle Tracking Team Chief for Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. After completing Basic Instructor School at Pearl Harbor, he reported to Naval Support Group Activity Fort Meade, Md., in January 2004, where he served as Division Leading Chief Petty Officer, Branch Chief, and National Cryptologic School Senior Course Instructor for Intermediate Technical Electronic Intelligence Analysis School. In February 2007 he reported to Precommissioning Unit USS Sterett built in Bath, Maine, and homeported in San Diego, Calif., where he served as Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. He also earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist qualification. He reported to Pittsburgh Military Entrance Processing Station in May 2010.

His professional military education includes Cryptologic Technician Technical “A” and “C” Schools, Subsurface Augmentee Operator and Analyst Course, Naval Aircrewman Candidate School, Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape School, Combat Systems Senior Enlisted Course, Electronic Warfare Technician Advanced Applications Course, and the Senior Enlisted Academy.

Senior Chief Serratta’s military awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and numerous unit and service medals and ribbons.
