Lieutenant Commander Peter Bissonnette is the commander of the Amarillo Military Entrance Processing Station.

Lieutenant Commander Bissonnette graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., in May 2002, where he earned his commission as an ensign in the United States Navy. After graduation, he attended initial flight training at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla. He proceeded to Naval Station Norfolk, Va., for advanced flight training in the E-2C Hawkeye and was designated a naval flight officer in May 2004. He was assigned to Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 115 aboard the super carrier USS Kitty Hawk, where he also served as a personnel officer, and later as assistant operations officer. In November 2007, Lieutenant Commander Bissonnette reported to Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Jacksonville University, Fla., where he served as the freshman naval science instructor and recruiting officer. Lieutenant Commander Bissonnette transitioned to the naval human resources community in November 2009. His next assignment was to Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, Calif., where he also completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase I from the U.S. Naval War College Distance Education Program. He graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in September 2012.

His professional military education includes the U.S. Naval Academy, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in computer science; a master of business administration degree from Jacksonville University; Naval Postgraduate School, where he earned a master of science degree in human systems integration; and Joint Professional Military Education Phase I from the U.S. Naval War College Distance Education Program, where he graduated with merit.

Lieutenant Commander Bissonnette’s military awards and decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various unit and service medals and ribbons.
