Colonel Kathy J. Maloney is the acting commander, U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, headquartered in North Chicago, Ill.
Colonel Maloney earned her commission through Officer Candidate School in December 1987. From December 1988 to June 1992, Colonel Maloney served as the adjutant and personnel officer, Headquarters and Service Battalion, 2nd Force Service Support Group, Camp Lejeune, N.C. During this tour, she deployed in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. In June 1992, Colonel Maloney transferred to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Logistics Base, Barstow, Calif., where she served as commanding officer, Headquarters Company and Base Adjutant, until June 1995. From August 1995 to June 1996, she attended Amphibious Warfare School, Quantico, Va. In June 1996, she was assigned to the Secretary of the Navy White House Liaison Office, where she served until April 1998. From May 1998 to June 2001, she returned to Marine Corps Logistics Base, Barstow, where she served as the commanding officer, Headquarters Battalion. In July 2001, she was hand selected for assignment as the officer in charge, Marine Corps Administrative Analysis Team-East, where she served until July 2005.
From August 2005 to June 2006, she attended the College of Naval Warfare, Newport, R.I., and earned a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. From July 2006 to June 2009, Colonel Maloney served as deputy assistant chief of staff, human resources and then assistant chief of staff, human resources, II Marine Expeditionary Force, during this tour she also deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom as the assistant chief of staff, human resources. From July 2009 to June 2012, she served as assistant chief of staff, human resources, Marine Corps Forces, Pacific, and deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom as the inspector general and director of human resources for Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435. Prior to her current assignment, Colonel Maloney served as assistant chief of staff, human resources, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
Colonel Maloney earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Western Montana College, Dillon, Mont., in May 1987, and a Master of Public Administration Degree from City University, Seattle, Wash., graduating with honors in June 2001.
Colonel Maloney’s military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit Medal, Bronze Star Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
